    Exclamation Intake manifold runner control

The check engine light to my o6 gti came on. The diagnostic said the intake manifold runner control was stuck open. About an hour later the light went off. Any ideas as to the location of this animal. I really dont want to spend a day at the dealer waiting on them to take care of it.

About a year ago my CE light came on, and I noticed a small reduction in overall engine power. Turns out it was the intake manifold control module - I think that's what you're talking about. Took the dealer maybe an hour to change, free of charge of course.....

I had the same problem, its a recall and its a real pain to remove it, then even more of a pain to put it back on. It'll be faster if you just take it to the dealer.

The Intake runner flap motor is directly beneath the intake manifold, you pull off the engine cover and look toward the front of the vehicle, there is a thick hose coming out of the black plastic intake manifold, attached to that thick rubber hose is the flap motor.

Most likely yes if your under warranty, but if you have your stock intake I would spend the 15 minutes to throw it back on just because. the intake flapper is a known problem (i'v had it) so they should know its a factory and not aftermarket defect.
