    Default BOV question?

Ok so when i got my car it already had a BOV a Turbo XS at leasts thats what is says on it.

    http://www.dumpt.com/img/viewer.php?...d5r1n5cdfp.jpg
seems like it is an older version of the Turbo XS Type H-RFL (sorry about picz i only had cam phone)

    http://www.dumpt.com/img/viewer.php?...ukgkw6b87t.jpg
vacuum is connected to the silver cylinder in the middle (dont know if this is where it should be connected to)

ok so i want to know

When should the phsst sound happen?

My does not make the sound until im boosting 15psi or higher and i dont think its that loud u can hear it but not loud like RFL. I have heard cars the dont seem to be boosting much and u can hear the sound of the BOV. All I get is a lot of fluttering. i think it should sound with any amount of boost, if this was not the case a bov would not work in a stock car since they would only boost around 10psi. right?

I also opened it and it did not have any spacers in it, so can anyone tell me if it should have some.

    thanks once for any help

hope u can tell from the really bad pic but the vacuum hose goes right on to the silver cylinder under the "Y" PCV hose, there is no "T" fitting it just goes right on to the cylinder dont know if that cylinder should be connected to anything else.

    thanks for ur help guys

Ok, on the top of the BOV, you see that fitting? A vacuum hose needs to go on that. The hose that connects to it runs under neath the engine cover on the drivers side. The vacuum hose is I believe a 5/32" hose (very small). This hose runs to the Nxxx (can't remember which one...) and is part of the wastegate system. The bottom of the BOV is installed properly and the side opening "appears" to be installed properly...

ok i know there is a vacuum hose on the top of the bov its was not on cus i just removed the bov to check it and the hose is connected to the cylinder in the 2nd pic (this is wrong from what u said) so what should the cylinder in the pic be connected to?

    http://www.dumpt.com/img/viewer.php?...ukgkw6b87t.jpg

it should be connected to Nxxx? is this the N75 valve hose that goes to the wastegate?

I wish I still had my dub, I'd show you detailed pics...

I can't exactly recall directly where the hose goes, been a while. I know the bottom feeds into the intake boot. The middle cylinder feeds from the wastegate? and the top nipple feeds from the Nxxx.

The N75 is on a separate circuit than the DV/BOV system. The top vacuum hose feeds to the Nxxx which relays the readings to the N75 which relays back to the ecu... Your middle hose should be a free standing vacuum line if you think it isn't connected properly...

    BINGO!

Look at the very first pic. You see how that hose leads straight to the turbo piping (thicker hose)? That's how your middle hose should be routed. The bottom feeds into the intake hole and the top vacuum hose is there as well.

Thats exactly how I have mine hooked up, is there any way you can tighten or loosen the spring inside the bov like on the greddy type rs?
And have you tried running it with the new set up?

i took it off and i took it apart it didnt have any spacers. Turbo XS site says to place spacers inside if it idles wrong but idle is fine dont know if the spacer might be the problem

what know set up u talking about?

Don't believe so. I've been thinking about running forge splitR as well but it seems to have mixed reviews at VWvortex.

do you know if any of these will fit on the weld on adapter i have for my turbo xs valve, cuz i think its my valve that may be messed up some how. it has vacuum to it and it will only give me the sound like i said b4 at 15 psi or above. im goin to try to tap into the vacuum for th FPR once i go get a T fitting the right size to fit the vacuum off the BOV. and if that does not work im thinking of getting a new BOV

do u think it maybe the BOV itself?

I dunno whether or not they'll fit with the adapter you have, I know they fit the stock setup just fine, and you shouldn't have to T into your FPR line to get a good vac run to your bov

i dont know what eles to try. you old me u had ur setup the same way i do. i took the vac line off the top of the BOV turn on the car had normal vac in my opinion. dont know what else would cuz the BOV only to sound above 15psi.

should i just get another BOV?

if so should i just get another Turbo XS or should i get my self stock piping and buy the one u suggested?

i mean there is nothing complicated about a BOV i think. doesnt it work off pressure differentail? the only thing it needs is vac and it has it but it dont work right.

    so once again

should i go with a Turbo XS or just get the stock pipe and buy one that u suggested?

    thanks man

If you have a turbo xs and it broke why would you use it again? Take a pic of the pipe you have now, we'll go from there
