Default Help Check Engine Light Is Blinking!

So i was driving my car today and i was going about 25 up a hill and my check engine light goes blinky crazy at me. so i pulled over asap and turned the car off.. drove it gently as possible home..now the lights on still only it won't blink 100 percent of the time. it idles really rough and chugs like a beast. It concerns me cause whenever lights start blinking at me its always bad news. My car is 100 percent stock.
    Any ideas?
    o2 sensor?
the manual says if the light is blinking its a catalytic converter?
my gas is whatever the dealer has put in it, i've only had the car for about a week.
    help?

If you've had it a week, have the dealer fix it.

blinking check engine light mean that for some reason there is too much fuel leavin the combustion chamber and the cat is in danger of internally melting. this maybe cuz of a misfire in one of the chamber since it runs rough. best thing to do when the light starts blinking is to pull over n stop the engine, which u did, just not on a dry grassy area cuz the cat can be very very hot n get ob fire (like charcoals) i mean if u look under the car that is what it will look like really really red (if car is run enough with blinking light which is bout only 2 min or less)

u only had the car a week so take it back to the dealer just stop if the light starts blinking or tell them to send u a tow (best bet if it still blinks n dealer is far) cat will melt and there will be so much pressure in the exhaust the the car will hardly run if it stays on. seen it on many many cars

    good luck

dont know maybe bad coil and not get spark in one cylinder.

it can be the ecu since thats what controls everything (happen in a friends car not a GTI tho) it can be a few things all electrical (most likely)

like suggested b4 take it to the dealer make sure they guaranty the cat is fine or make them change it

Bad spark plug tower, which is not likely, they are pretty solid. Could have a fouled spark plug, or as it was said, bad ecu. Unlikely, but possible. I'd take her to a dealer and have the diagnose it for the best response. More than likely they will quote an expensive repair but before you commit, comment back here and see if anyone can locate you a "cheaper" means of repairs other than the stealership.

I would also suggest changing ur oil after you get it fixed. Some of that raw fuel makes its way into ur crankcase.

so since my "linkage" was shot they took it to a transmission shop around here and they decided my transmission was all sorts of dead. so I have to get a new one.
    yikes.
at least I dont have to pay for the transmission.
but they said i should probably put in a clutch while they're doing it all.
he said it was 328 dollars...that a little steep?
