    Cats,
looking on line & thinking of purchasing Escort 8500 X 50. Seems to be the best option for me as I travel 30 miles of SC highway each day to & from work. Know that the cops hang on a few spots but would love to know when they are there. The unit is on sale right now at Radar busters.com for 3 bills with free shipping. Would like to know if anyone has one & if so honest reviews. Seems a little crazy to spend $200 for the 9500ix.....

Red face Re: Radar Detectors: the main thread

I bought the escort s3 last week and it definitely was not powerful enough for my style of driving.
I returned it a day later and purchased the escort passport 9500ix. I am really happy with it, and I love the gps. The only reason I didn't get the redline is because I hear that it falses a lot, and that would get annoying.

I went ahead & purchased & have had 5 confirmed saves already. It does false oftern in the auto mode when city driving, which I do not do a lot of. I normally just turn to city mode when it falses the first time then it goes away. I am very happy with it & would recomend it to anyone like myself that is doing highway driving,

    Escort Redline

Used to get pulled over every couple months, got the redline about a year ago and I haven't been pulled over yet. One of the best investments I've made.

Not to bust bubbles but i was a fan of the Radar detectors. Now that i work for the fuzz. I can see its not worth your money. Spy vs spy. The same people who make the radar for law-enforcement make the radar detectors we put in our dash. Some work better than other but its not 100% plus its just a tool to aid in the ability to stop speeders cops are trained constantly on the ability to evauate speeders just as they are trained on other laws. So dont waste to much money on them. Save it for better mods and dry smart. Trust me i love my Gti.

I have an escort 9500ix and I love it. Has gps so learns false signals and stores them. Keep false alerts down to almost none. Plus it'll go off like a mile before I even see the cop. I swear by this one.
