The only issue is that sometimes 42 takes a while to ship. I had my dp 4 days after I ordered it, so I guess it depends on the demand when you place your order. As for the intake, I have the pflow and was told it is the only intake that does not cause turbulence. The stage 2 pipe isn't necessary, but I did get one from bsh, but only because it looks and sounds better.
I have no problem waiting for parts haha, I had only drove my GTI for two days and then i left for Afghanistan. So im gonna be waiting a while before i even get to sit in it again haha. Just doing all my prep work now so when i get back home i know what im getting into

This is a great guide! Thanks so much!

Now, how about one for stage 2.5 or 3?

I guess the assumption is that if you are going that far you know enough already? Not in my case, I love to drive my GTI, got it at stage 2 right now, but am not in any way technically minded, so a simple description like this of "how to make it go faster than it does if it is already at stage 2" would be very much appreciated!

Next step would be to go with a bigger turbo... APR have yielded some really good results with their newest K04 file and there is also STG3 with the GT28 series turbo.

Okay, thank you for that. It looks like the K04 is a smaller, cheaper kit ($2.5k Vs $4.5k), wheras the STG3 is a full kit, right? Would these kits be either/or, or would I be expected to buy and install both of these kits to get to stage III? What is the difference between them?

What about a bigger fuel pump? Is that included in either of these kits? If not, would I need one? I base this question on other bits I have been reading on the forums....

FWIW, I currently have the car with APR chip to stage II, APR downpipe (not full catback) and EVO Motorsports intake box..... no other mechanical changes have been made.

    Thank you!

thanks for all the info, my main concern is does modding the car eff up the warranty? how far can you push the car w. mods without jeopardizing the warranty... i understand that if it did there would be no reason for aftermarket products but i just want to make sure before i put any money in it. is there a vw tech specialist that could help me out or anyone else that knows anything about this... again I'm new to modding but very interested in doing so! i ll be picking up my 2012 gti in shadow blue next thursday! thanks guys.

i was lookin at a 2012 R...but if there is any mods from stock im pretty sure that it voids the warranty. sure it sucks but at least if you #*@k anything up under warrenty it'll be fixed fo free =)

Remember, mods only result in that part/function being not covered by warranty. Modding will not allow VW to say they won't fix your car under warranty unless they can prove your mod f*^ked up what it is that your bringing it in for.

Hi, I am new to this forum and I really like the information you guys provided in this thread. In fact, I have question... Do you have any comment on the products from an UK company calls "VW Racing"?? I think they are specialized in the VW racing parts. Thanks in advance

I'm considering getting an MKVI GTI after I sell my Pt. A-B civic.
Need a little more fun in my day-to-day life. Haha.
Thanks for posting this information. I plan on doing some mods after the payment is taken care of.

Mkv and mkvi intake manifolds are plastic. Www.uspmotorsports.com sales a new intake manifold for them but i would not touch the stock one because if you have to replace it it will coat you a pretty penny.

The intake manifold on ecs tuning is $200.38 for the TSI motor. For the FSI it is $236.00

Less metal=less production cost=charging more for repairs cause it brakes more.

I agree but also they have these flapper motors in the FSI engine that is on each port that controls the air flow into the motor. Those are seperate pieces and those motors cost almost $200 each. I think they got ride of them when they made the TSI.

Www.ecstuning.com and you can also talk yo apr about getting the injectors for the ko4 turbo kit. That might help out a lot. Not too sure. Do not know much about injectors and stiff like that.

2011 GTI 6 sp APR stage 1 ecu, APR stage 1+2 intake.
I would like to know if a boost gauge is necessary or beneficial with stage 1 ecu.
Or is it just "for show" at stage 1.

A boost gauge is always good to have. You can monitor your boost levels for diagnostic purposes. Also good for gas conservation.

I was doing some research on the neuspeed air intake and found out they only sell stage 1 for my GTI, they claim that after months of development it was determened that the only restriction in the stock intake is the air box, so MAF location and original pipe remain the same. Anybody heard anything about this? Also if this is true I rather go for APR carbonio intake stage 1 for the same price $299.00

Anybody heard anything about this? Also if this is true I rather go for APR carbonio intake stage 1 for the same price $299.00
Thats correct, the stage 2 is mostly for looks.

Yeah i know but the information he is asking is in this thread. Ways to mod are the same for the MKV and the MKVI.

Great thread! This info is very helpful to a greenhorn, such as myself. I do, however, have a couple of questions that I have not seen addressed anywhere.

What are the long term durability implications for one of these stage 1 reflashes? There are some significant power increases being mentioned...and we are talking about a motor making at or over the 100hp per liter level in stock trim already. Another 20% is a significant increase. How do these motors hold up over time with stage one reprograming?

Oh, and with the upgraded down pipes...how does the relocation and use of a different type of catalytic converter effect the emissions profile? Also, do the changes to the catalyst, in terms of type and location, give any problems in terms of the OBD2 monitors for cat efficiency? Ie: aren't folks bothered by MIL/check engine lights?

Thanks for any insite you guys can provide.

Motors hold up fine and produce better mpg and are more efficient than stock.

Some tuners disable cel with tune and some you can use a spacer for
