And thats at over 6k rpms? ........really honda? F*ckin really? Its not even like the newest gen is like the previous ones where the low numbers are ok because of the light weight.... I mean 2900 lbs is not at all a lard ass car..... but with that **** poor tq number... well you won't be gettin up and goin anytime soon.... No wonder we get all "Butt Hurt" when honda fanboys come onto a gti forum toting their torqueless flag.... This car is sh!t I mean the interior is nice but is discernibly honda, same with the power... its the same old same old just worse Hey lets put peak power 400 rpms away from fuel cut off.... brilliantly done honda, just brilliant

That's probably because you just don't understand.
And Dlight. What's that say for your GTI when a car with 135 ft/lbs of torque is just as fast (if not a tenth faster) stock to stock?? Lol. Not too much.
If you would like me to break down the flaws in your 2.0t fsi transplant, I gladly will. There's actually quite a few advantages Honda's have over your particular types of powerbands if you weren't so closed minded.

Speak on it then dude, ain't even like it would be the first time we've butted heads, and if you want to take edmunds as the end all be all, judge, jury, and executioner of car testing be my guest, but realistically an MKV gti will run mid to mid high 14's stock, not a 15.3 like edmunds posted
Ps my car isn't an mkv :@@:

The best times I've seen for either car stock down to the tire, is a 14.6@95 for the GTI (MKV), and a 14.5@96 for the Civic SI. Edmunds?? lol
I'll respond to the rest when I get out of work later.

Ive seen 14.2@ 98(i THINK it was 98 but im 100% sure it was 14.2) and i have a stub print out to prove it back home. My friend has 07 STOCK mkV. I will tell you his father is a professional driver so the kids learning from the best though. If i have to scan the stub in I will but im at school. But im betting that kid could pull a better time out of the SI as well.

just weird that you came up with the .1 sec dif because thats what edmunds got just with 15's lol, and I've never seen a mid 14 outta the civic, and as das said there are people who can crack low 14's outta stock gti's most mags and such just wind up with mid 14's

Hey Jyden, thanks for the nice words for a Honda guy. I haven't been here in awhile
and have some interesting stories for you guys. I have done some more labor intensive
weight removal and had some controlled encounters with a GIAC chipped DSG GTI (lost), Charger R/T hemi , and an A3 3.2 (won). Again, I have the '06 Si with almost 300 pounds removed at this point. If you are interested, I'd be glad to share my truthful account of the encounters.

OK, here goes.
Since I was here last, I dropped about 60 more pounds on the weazing Civic Si, added an Exedy upgraded organic clutch, and some other minor stuff. (I found that Seibon CF hood and trunk pieces are about 6 pounds heavier each than Carbon Creations so I changed over at much expense and saved 12 pounds there.) The torqueless VTEC seems to really respond to weight reduction. I have a full Hytech exhaust ($2100.00, one year wait), and Hondata reflash as my next step.
Anyway, the first story against the GIAC chipped '07 DSG GTI came out as I might have expected. The GTI driver and passenger were running G-TECH samples on Jefferson Bl. in West L.A. I immediately noticed a sharper pitch to the exhaust. I followed him and we both made right turns from a red light. As soon as he started his right turn, I followed without stopping so that I could stay near him. He noticed my attempt to follow and immediately got into it hard. I am familiar with stock DSG GTIs, and this one clearly had more pop. The throttle response seemed stronger than my Si and I immediately dropped about one full car length or more to 60. I instantly got that familiar sinking feeling that despite my best effort, this GTI was stronger. Further, side by side rolling start runs confirmed it as he would pull 1 to 1.5 lengths and hold it. As the speed climbed however, his advantage seemed to go away. Nonetheless, I had to come to terms with the fact that it was faster and I needed to know what was up. I was alone, and he had the extra weight of a passenger. After pulling over, I was relieved to find out that he had a GIAC chip, some undisclosed exhaust upgrade, and other minor stuff. He said he had about 250 h.p. and 270 ft.-lbs. and I definitely believe it. His car was clearly around 5.3/14.1 0-60 and 1/4-mile in my estimation. I congratulated him on the good work and he commented how he was shocked to see my Civic stay with him so closely. He asked what work I had done and I gladly shared my efforts. (My Civic is around 5.6/14.3 after all the weight reduction and other stuff so far.) Despite the loss, this was a great fun for both of us and he was really cool.
I will go over my encounters against an A3 3.2 and Dodge Charger R/T hemi soon. The guy in the hemi was shocked but very gracious. He just didn't expect to lose and kept asking how much horsepower my car had. I told him that my car weighs more than 1500 lbs. less than his Charger.
He had some aftermarket oversized 19" wheels and tires that I'm sure didn't help. All good fun and no hostilities in any of these situations.
