So i got a mkiii 2.0slow today.
its a 96 GTI with 98k on the clock. has some body damage that im not really concerned about since i want it as a beater. maybe if i get some extra green i might make it look hot. ATM i have to check for a suspected oil leak and that is as much as i can see that is wrong with it for now. thinking about doing some raceland coils cuz i really dislike the 4X4 mode VW come in. maybe some euro bumpers with euro lip but this might come down the road. i want to put most of my $$ into my mkiv. first thing i might do is some cheap intake and some HID and ebay badge less grill might tint the windows my self since i tried it on my Geo and did not come out too bad for my first time. lol so here are some picz from the craigslist ad ![]() ![]() will get some more soon with the my mkiv

they do, you need to buy a keyless box off vortex, a ton of people are selling them. Them you need to get the keyless remote and program it to the keyless box. To help with your oil problem, go to the store and get brake cleaner and spray down the engine bay (don't worry, it evaperates pretty quickly) as that will clean everything up and help spot any possible leaks left over. |

so today was a long day for me.
started by going straight to walmart to buy oil and then to autozone for a filter. did the oil change car had about only 2 quarts of oil in it. reason it was ticking all the way home. (thought i had bought a POS as soon as i heard it lol) i also add some lucas oil thing to help the engine out a with the ticking. i had some degreaser so i sprayed it down and remove 70% of the oil and gunk from the engine bay. had a lil problem with it not wanting to start cuz i hosed it down but it was just a wet distributor cap. dry it out and started right up after like 2 min of running the ticking goes away. then i has my little brother clean out all the leafs and twigs it had in the rain tray. when he was done he had a full grocery bag for leafs and twigs. we moved on to check why the exhaust rattles. well its rusted out right after the cat and it was hitting the cross member. so i tied it up with a metal coat hanger and problem fixed until i get $$ for an exhaust. moving on to the e-brake. it was not holding. just need to be adjusted since all the years of use had loosen the nuts and had fallen out. got that back on nice and tight. then i go on to add windshield fluid and the reservoir leaked. so i removed the battery. remove the reservoir and it had a hair line crack in the bottom. so i mixed some epoxy and smeared it all over. got to wait till tomorrow to see if it worked or not after it dries. so i was ready to call it a day since i had only slept 3 hours the day before and worked all night but i decided to tell my other brother which was helping with everything (lil brother was just doing some of the cleaning up) to remove the interior panel to see if we could fix the dent so after a few minute of struggling with the panel and cracking it in a few place (was very brittle from age) we were happy to see that the was no interior wall and that we could get to the quarter panel to pop it out. a few kicks and some hammering the quarter panel is almost perfect. of course it has it dents which need to be filled and a about 2 dent that need to be pulled with the slide hammer but its good. i think i did a pretty good job with the quarter panel. i guess the 6 months working with a body shop came in handy lol. well then i had my lil brother give it a good wash. and my other brother cleaned the wheels which looked my they had not been cleaned in years. so thing i need to fix are wheel bearings struts (raceland coils seem to be what i might get) valve cover gasket exhaust 2 tires have to check the timing belt but the guy said her had not done it and he put 50k mile on the car so it need it soon. i think that all for now, at least what i found to be wrong today. pictures to come soon to lazy to go get the camera while im working

just spent a good hour searching how to disable the DRL and how to keep the low beam and fogs on with the high beam.
so it tells me to go look for a 173 relay so i can disable the DRL but i cant find it. its not there unless it got replaced with 1 without the number on it. i need to jump some wires for the low beams and fog. so i did more searching and found a different way to disable the DRL, which is the same as the mkiv. just tape up the TFL pin. lol well i also found during my searching of the 173 relay that there is no relay in the ECU RELAY location and no relay in the A/C RELAY location now i wounder how the hell is the ECU getting power when there is no relay in its location and y (altho the A/C is not cold) does the compressor turn on. it will just stay on if i hit the A/C button up will not cycle on and off like it supposed to. |

Nice, UPS left a package with the shoes I ordered for the GF on my front door friday. I was there but I guess was out back or something and didn't even know they came untill my rommate came home. The neighborhood I live in I wish they wouldn't leave that on my doorstep, especially as it says "online shoes" on the box............

I usually just have everything delivered to the post office at my school and they hold it for me. Easier for me just to pick it up. Like my airbag stuff is there waiting on me

nice guy tho, hate to be a d-bag but that was ridicuolous IMO "I have plenty in stock yet the items you ordered are not manufactured by us here in house. The tank by all means is something I normally do not run out of and I get my shipment of the bulk load (which should last another 6 months) next week. The air shocks are a brand new item and we list those received dates from what our manufacturers give us. Unfortunately when I rely on an outside source to insure delivery time it doesn't always work out they way we hoped it would. This reflects poorly on our company and the people who suffer most are our customers and for that I sincerely apologize, you should not have to endure that burden. I can fix your shock issue easily by offering you a set of the air shocks I build here in house for a discounted rate. I have listed the link below so you can see what we have to offer and I will charge you 375.00 for the set rather than 499.00 as listed. I know it is a bit more for you but I think it is a much better idea for you to go with them as it will give you a much better ride than the one you have on order. I think I remember you telling me that you were installing them on the front of your vehicle right? I can make these as small as 5" in diameter but recommend the 6.5" for the smoother ride. Either one will give you a much better than the ones you have on order. Call me here with any questions at all and I will be sure you are taken care of. Once again I apologize for the inconvenience, have a great day."

so i need help with coils on a budget
i want to get these but dont know how they would ride when you ride hoopy style http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...Overs/ES10583/ they are non-adjustable so i would imagine the would be pretty stiff and bouncy. or should i just save some more green and go with the street-line version http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...vers/ES250776/ |

Go with the street-lines. I'm at the same crossroad with my mk3 and honestly, I'd like to be able to drag my oil pan across the road for shows but really don't want to daily that low...

yea but both say that the can drop up to 85mm
i think both will get you the same lowness but im more concern about ride quality and performance. im like you i want to be really low for the shows and since it is my DD now, i dont want to be bouncing around all over the place like a honda on cut springs. i just wanted to know if the regular coils would ride nicely with like a 1 finger gap. plus the car is my DD so its goin to see some snow so its not goin to be real low until spring. |

If I can come up with the coin I'll probably buy the cheaper ones. Only because I know I'll be upgrading them eventually, I just feel that being able to control the ride comfort is something vital to me...

That's cool, just keep me posted. If you run into more than one wire, ground the colourful one lol. If it's just one wire, ground it off. With it grounded it gets no reading so it has no reason to trigger a CEL
