Default Throttle Body Pipe - DIY

So I recently decided I wanted to get the Stage I Throttle Body Pipe from Eurojet. I wanted to return the "robbed" air back to the engine, rather than to the firewall. The kit ordered from 20squared.com included no installation instructions, and when I called 20squared to inquire about installation they said there was none...Let me repeat "there was none." As in in stock, supplied, shipped SANS instructions. WTF! I think I even called Eurojet and got no answer. I looked on several sites for a DIY and found none. How is there an aftermarket part with no DIY. Anyway, my rant is only to explain my first DIY - Eurojet's Stage I Throttle Body Pipe.

In some of the pics I used Engine Amplification Pipe, Throttle Body Pipe and Noise Delete Pipe. They are all the same (at least in my book)

What you'll need:
Torx 20 and 30
10MM socket 5/16th and 1/4 inch sockets too(There are a few sockets I used, this is these are the only ones I remember)
Phillips and flathead screwdrivers
Patience
Channel Lock pliers help, but not a necessity

I know what your thinking, who the effe uses metric and standard....I DO, whats up now!

Why you'd do this, 2 reasons: Less engine noise in the cabin, more air to the engine resulting in better throttle response. So is that three reasons Oh well...

You'll see in some of my pics that I removed the splash (aka skid) plate and radiator fan. The splash plate you HAVE to remove, there are two clips up front underneath the car and 8 T20 torx screws to remove and it just pops off. Try your best to do the job without removing the fan because 3 out of the 4 nuts you can get to pretty easily with either a straight T30 Torx and screwdriver, or T30 + 1/4 inch socket + socket wrench, but one of the nuts is next to impossible to get to because of a couple of things in the way. I still don't have the 4th nut back in all the way yet, I conceded like Hillary and am going to a VW specialist down the road tomorrow and will probably give then $15 to screw it back on. DAMN Germans make things so tight fitting!

Sorry if this DIY is ghetto, but I am not good at photo editing or spelling and it's my first DIY...not to mention ONLY DIY for this.

And Awaaay we go...

Now have a smoke and a beer and call a friend to let them know you're done!!!!

Hope this helped, feel free to PM me with questions or comments.

Thanks Dlight. I've only driven the car twice since I put it in but so far throttle response seems a little improved and engine noise is down a little.

Also, for everyone else's benefit you can go with the A3 Noise Pipe Delete which is cheaper and just as effective. I wanted a little more color in my engine bay so I paid the extra $$ for it.

As long as you like it, all that matters and if your ass dyno tells you there's some extra pep in the car it's even better

Just curious, I really want to do everything you laid out here. Just seems to me that VW was trying to make GTI sound wicked in the cabin. I asked a VW tech about removing the EA pipe, and he was extremely against it because he told me that it was the BOV for the vehicle. Any answers on that? For some reason I thought VW runs DVs, right?

The knowledge level of VW techs still amazes me... (or lack there of)
