Surging, Coil Pack Questions???

I have been doing some searching about surging lately because my 05 gti 1.8t was doing a bit of surging (I think). I am not completely confident that I know exactly what the surging sounds like. I have heard anything from changing plugs, coil packs, N75 valve, etc....

My question is, since I just replaced the spark plugs, which seemed to help out, but how long do these coil packs last? I try and keep my car running in top running condition and take care of her, but I have been seeing a lot of issues with these coil packs. My 05 gti 1.8t is just a baby, she only have 32500 miles on her, but technically speaking the coil packs are somewhere in the range of 3-4 years old.

Second question, I am looking at relocating the DV valve to redirect the cool side air into the intercooler, and upgrading the N75, after reading some great stuff on the upgraded N75. Is changing the DV and upgrading the N75 going to mess with my stock 1.8t gti? I only have a P-flo, and at some time down the line I will be upgrading to a GIAC chip. Will the relocated DV and upgraded N75 have an issue with adding in the GIAC down the line, or at the stock level I am currently at?

First thing I thought of was the N75, but I'm not much of a 1.8 guy.
