They are def faster.. Idk how much personally since ive never raced one.. Im sure someone here has raced one though..

i was about to trade my 03 1.8 in...but i smartened up. plus they sold it already.

They are slightly faster...the R32 can do around 6 seconds even to 60 consistantly. The R is definately more of a track car though, having all wheel drive, and a tighter suspension. They're quite a bit more sure footed than any FWD car. Great car none the less, just not as fast in a straight line.

the .:R's really arn't anything to cry over. Really don't be afraid to step up next to one. From a stop, they will beat you. From a roll, it's a whole other ball game. The vr6 engines really arnt much to worry over, and these .:R's are no different. I've raced a handful of stock .:R's and they may sound throaty, but once you hit full spool it's gonna be pretty close.

i used to valet and i've driven a lot of fast cars, mainly in short bursts not only through the parking lot but mostly. For sure one of the fastest cars i've driven was the mkv gti. first and last time i drove one of those. that turbo spools up really fast. Then i got an mkiv R on a short stretch of road and that thing threw me the fk back, really fast.

i LOVE my mkiv 1.8 but if i money was no thang i'd take the R any day

not the mkv R, sorry i know the tranny is pretty sick but if there's no clutch pedal, it's not for me
