I am having a baby in August.
So, that means I have to get rid of my Mustang. That doesn't mean that I can't still have a car that I like and that is a bit sporty. I've been looking at my options and I'm pretty sure I've got it down to 2 choices. The 4 door GTI and the Subaru WRX. Also, based on my budget, I need to go with something around $18-20k, so I have to get something used. That kind of puts me at around a 2007 model year. I'm not the kind of guy to get into mods or racing. I just want something that's fun to drive, has a bit of kick to it, but also somewhat practical. This won't be our main mode of child transportation we already have a nice family car. I just need my car to be kid capable in case I need to take the baby somewhere. So, which one should I get? ![]() |

i'm in the same boat as you.. family and time for a new car makes my choices a little slimmer, from personal experiance with a friends wrx, they are SMALL inside.. that's why i joined here, to make sure i was making a good decision as far as reliability.

hah, I hope your ready for complete bias answers. But on a serious note, get a 4 door GTi.
Better gas mileage, amazing interior. awesome low end torque, DSG, Sporty, safe for family including side airbags and such, will be loved by family, your kids first words will be GTi or fast, the car comes with that fast figurine so you can save on toys for the little ones, Navigation option, plenty of backseat room to make/store kids, perfect blend of luxury and sportiness, 18" Huffs option, Leather interior option, Represent Germany, have a car with branches including Bugatti, Lambo, Audi, etc. , hatch is easy to open so if you go buy grocery nd stuff hah... the list goes on , GTi FTW

Meh, I'll get flamed to **** for this...but even though I own a GTI, and this is my 2nd GTI I'd still much prefer the Subie.

I love the feel of the cheap interior, makes me not feel as bad if it gets dirty. I love rough and loud as well. Kinda like sex :P hahah
I came from the DSM family before the VW family. Hopefully if all pans out with this new job I will be selling my VW and getting back into an evo after this year. |

I drove a few 10's, the power is nice but the interior, and exterior are both god awful. My friend bought a 9 MR today, and it's nice, but I don't like the Mivec system, or the ACD.
I think I'm going to go for an 04 8 GSR, or RS. I hope... |

I'd get an 07 4dr with leather, The other kids at your childs school will be like ooooooooo. They seem to be top notch on safety and very sporty/comftorable especially for a day trip on the twisties

I don't care for the EVO X's...I'd stick with the IX MR. Even though the interior doesn't look much better than that of a military HMMWV

i like the Evo X..
being tall, i have to go by what i fit in. ![]() they have more leg room than the previous models. aaaanyway. if it's between 07's, i say go GTI, if it's a more recent year, i say go Subaru. The newer 09's have 260HP. ![]()
