Default Seafoam 2.0T FSI

Why:
As the FSI is a direct injection engine, only nasty oil and oxygen comes in contact with the valves. Seafoam can help clean the gunk off the valves.

Tools required:
1.) 1/4 inch inner diameter and 1/2 out fuel line (Autozone $1.50 a foot)
2.) basketball valve or Slime valve for for tires ($1.99 at Autozone for Slime needle)
3.) T30 Torx Bit
4.) Knife to cut 1/4 hose
5.) lid/cup, I used a PB blaster can top

Steps:
1.) Cut hose to desired length. I did about 5.5 inches. Place the needle in hose.

2.) Remove IAT sensor with the T30

3.) Place hose with valve in IAT hole.

4.) Pour Sea foam in cap.

5.) Start car and proceed to let needle suck up Seafoam. This is occur fairly fast and you will need to refill the cup and continue the sucking process. Your car will almost stall and smoke will gradually go everywhere.

6.) Shut the car off for apx. five minutes. While waiting for the five minutes, Place the IAT sensor back with the T30.

7.) Start the car back up and take it for a nasty spin. I had white smoke everywhere for apx. 10 minutes of hard driving.
*NOTE* I did bring up a CEL afterward. I still have clear that.

LASTLY and PRICELESS: Having my neighbor open the window with a camera on ME to go show to the clubhouse personnel. To bad she has nothing on me as she pulled out he camera after the hood was down and car shut off. HAHA

its a good thing to do once in a while to clean up your intake valves. if you run a catch can then the build up would be less then if your simply running the stock pcv.

on the write up

FINALLY - A good, detailed write-up on seafoaming.

I've been looking for a good DIY on this for forever.

Questions:
Do you end up using the entire can?
If not, how much do you use/how do you know when to stop?
Do you put the open end of the hose into the IAT, and the needle in the cup with the seafoam?

Thanks

I've heard to use about 1/3 can of seafoam so that's what I did. I can tell you that it will suck it up fast. I put the needle in and out to keep the engine from not dieing completely.

Yes, the open end section of the hose goes in the IAT port. I didn't have the enough hands to take a picture and hold the camera.

I did throw a CEL afterward and still have to clear that.

So, basically, you're just running the seafoam through your intake manifold to clean valves, etc?

Seems like a simple and cost effective thing to do say, every 4-6mo.

Good, simple write up

Yes, you're correct.

I think APR has some fault code erase thing. If they do, I wasn't able to get it to work. I'm going to hit the dealer for the clearing of the cel. I guess I need them to wash my car also

just did this today, used a straw inserted into the rubber tubing that sucked almost closed when it was submerged into the seafoam, worked pretty good at slowing the flow, I noticed a significant increase in power after I did this, then again I was redlin'in every gear during the "spirited" run after to knock all that crap off the valves.

good right up and thanks!

I did this today. Worked very well. I dunno if its just me but it seemed like performance increased a bit. After I was done I cleaned off the sensor and disconnected the battery for 10 min to get rid of CEL. BTW thanks for the write up!!! Good work!
