hey
i just got my 08 gti mkv and I'm having lots of fun with it i know this might sound like the noobiest question but its my first car and i want to know how to do things right. so my question is how do you use the paddle shifters i know how to

just keep it in Drive for a while and watch what the computer does, then try down shifting a bit earlier and a bit later and watch what happens. Basically you should get the hang of it in a few days. Don't worry about messing anything up, The DSG is quite safe.

you should definatly take your engine through a break in period. Dont do anything crazy for the first 2000 miles

If you have questions about shifting vist www.standardshift.com It's a great place to ask questions and learn about shifting.

thanks guys iam sort of getting it now. my duma** friend told me to wait till the revs are just about to hit redline and then shift ,i did that to 3rd gear and then i remembered reading about the break in and i stopped and put it back in d . the next day my other friend showed me and said i should do it at about 2.5 or 3.5 rpm .im gonna stick to that for about the first 1000 miles then speed it up a little

yeah....the engine is designed to spin up to about 6500 rpms safely. I would definitely recommend waiting til the break in period is over though! Those first 1000 miles are the most important you'll ever put on that motor. Keep that in mind when you're stressing her out.
