Hey all,
I'm looking at buying a 2007 Fahrenheit Edition GTI but wanted to know anything in particular to look out for. I am new to VWs, as I currently have a Jeep Cherokee, but I wanted to get into a different car direction for awhile... I have my eye on an 07 GTI Fahrenheit Edition with 31k miles, 1 owner, the dealer wants $17,981 for it. From the research I've done, this seems to be the asking price. Is there anything I should ask about to avoid any surprises down the road? I've read reviews of this car and lots of people have said they've had reliability issues with their VWs. I was of the opinion that VWs are very reliable cars that hold their value well, particularly the Golfs and GTIs. What is the general consensus from those of you who own a Fahrenheit? Good, bad, ugly? Thanks all! |

Your 40k mile service is going to suck. I own a Fahrenheit and it looks amazing, turns heads every day. Well worth the extra price tag. Under $18,000 OTD (out the door) seems ideal.
Look for my Fahrenheit build thread on here, seeing as I'm probably the most active FH driver on MFG nowadays. Welcome! -FF |

for the most part fahrenheits are the same as a regular GTI just painted a different color, and all the bells and wistles, this being said, the issues with 06 and some 07 models were cam follower/ cam wear, diverter valves going out (mostly after chip), there is a TSB for coil packs now, some little annoyyances like the fuel line rattle(aparently a TSB for that). Other than that drive on. That sounds like a pretty good deal most are priced in the 17's I would go for it if that was out the door price. At 31k your still under warranty for 19 more thousand miles so thats good.

Thanks very much for the replies!
I'm not sure that the asking price is the out-the-door price, also, I was hoping for a bit of wiggle room. This will be my first car I've ever had to buy myself, and I know you're never supposed to pay the dealer's quoted price, but I've never had to haggle/negotiate before really... |

If thats the price the dealer gave you then it isn't out the door most likely, I would get cash and walk in with 17.5 or 18k and lay it on their desk. Tell them you want it detailed and a full tank of gas aswell.

Indeed, when I bought mine, it was 20k cash OTD and got extended warranty, coupons for oil changes, details, parts, and they wrote me a check for all the fee's for me to register the car in my state (with extra to pay off the $14 i somehow owed from after I sold my old Chevy Blazer).
If you get the FH, this will happen: ![]() -FF |

You're looking at an expensive dealer service at 40,000 miles. It's the dreaded DSG service.

pretty much you have to change the DSG fluid, though its ok if you arent exactly at 40k miles. even if you do it yourself its still going to cost a decent amount.
the FH is a unique color and definently garners attention. |
