Default Mk4 Passat 1.8T Misfire Question

Ok So A Girl I Kno Has A Passat 1.8T She Calls Me Today And Says She Is Having An Issue With Cylinder #3 . Brand New Spark Plugs And Brand New Coilpacks . All The Connecting Plugs Are Completely Connected To The Coilpacks.

She Has Swapped The Coilpacks Around Hoping It Was Just A Bad One From The Factory And The Issue Stays On Cylinder #3.

I Told Her I Could Scan It For Her But Shes Outa Town Right Now ..... Any Ideas What Could Be Causing This ?

Im Thinking Its Something Like A Loose Wire In The Connector Thats Not Giving The Coilpack The Signal But I Am Not Sure About How /If 1.8T's Are Different Than My 2.0T's Ignition System.

yea sounds like a loose connector or wire in the connector, or shorted/burnt wire

Let's be real... your friend or your "friend"...

Def check into the wiring. Since they got rid of the dizzy, you can't blame that. has to be a lack of power somewhere in the ignition system for that cylinder. If you have an ohmeter you can easily check. Or vag it up...

Furthermore, the 1.8t has a recall on the coil packs so it would be free, regardless.

She could always go in (if she hasn't already) and play stupid. Act like the she just found out about the TSB and was finally free to go in. Considering they will scan it and see there is a misfire... They will have to look into the problem as maybe something that could have been sourced by the same issue. Just an idea...
