GTi vs IS350

some freshman wants to race his IS350 against me for some cash. i looked it up and they have 306hp and run 14.2 1/4 miles. what do you think my chances are?

With the mods you've got, i don't think you'd have any problem beating him... To ensure that you'll absolutely beat him though, have the race at an actual track, he's only a freshman with not much driving experience, you would absolutely dominate him there. I'd put $100 on a race like that if i had those kind of mods and if it were at a real track and not just a drag.

it would be on a secluded street and for 50 bucks. i could probably up it but i just ordered a Greddy Catback exhaust system that will arrive this week so im kinda broke hah. should be great though

So it would only be a drag race? I wouldn't necessarily bet on that. If you could do a point A to point B race, like from your school to the nearest mall or something like that though, that would probably be a lot of fun and im sure you could take it

It will be a close race. I just test drove one and they are pretty quick. I beat the hell out of it. Its a pretty fun car, but for 40+K i could find a better car!

I'm sorry to say that the Lexus probably has the edge in a straight line on this one. Take it on-course and it's a closer match; my money'd be on the GTI.

Ive raced one and it was a close call, but i think you definitively have a shot.


He may have more horse power but so does weight due to bigger engine.

alright fellas well i know i have not posted anything on here in awhile and it kind of died but here it is
TOMORROW!!! $150 race between me and an IS 350. i want to race him from a 20 roll. my friend has a stage II APR GTi and lost to this kid at over 100mph when they raced from a 20 roll and got killed from a 40 roll. he also has manual though and i have DSG so i have slight advantage there... i will also be running race gas tomorrow so our HP at the wheels will be pretty close between me and the IS 350. (266 for him and me about 262ish). i will own him in torque though thats why i want to do it from the 20 roll. there wont be a camera filming because i am getting my car stripped so i have the best chance against him.
wish me luck... any last minute suggestions?

Take EVERYTHING out of your car, wear the lightest shoes possible, you need your car to be as light as possible, every single pound counts.

i dont know how long it is. i want it as short as possible though. my friend with APR stage II lost on the 20 roll by a little because the IS 350 has better top end HP and catches up the longer you go. hopefully i can do like a 20-100mph run

Good luck bud, check your tire pressure beforehand to make sure everything is in perfect condition, $150 would be a lot to lose.

well race is over... kinda of a mess and disorganized had to go to 2 locations. we raced at this one place that his friend told us to and almost ran straight into an intersection because we couldnt see it around the bend... i pulled about 1.5 car lenghs in front and held him off but he didnt want to count it since we only got yo about 90 instead of 120 (whatever). after that race he seemed pretty scared and didnt even want to race for money anymore and was like "you want to race for money or rep!?" so i told him i got 150 ready and am willing to race for it if he wants to. and he didnt really want to so i said whatever fword it. so...we decide to do a best of 3 race and then we get to the dirtest construction rode with sand and **** ALL over and race from a dig. my tires would not grip anything at all so he just took off. pretty lame but whatever (never racing on that road AGAIN!) then he tried to put me down cause i wanted the next race to be from a 20 not a 40 (since i was pretty sure he could beat me on the 40 since the APR stage II had no chance) and then i gave in and said fine... and DAMN! you should of seen the look on his face!! i pulled a car ahead and he could not gain ANYTHING! we ended the race at 120 and i was .5 cars ahead rougly. pretty dead even the low end torque at the beggining saved my ass.
so now 3rd race... we park somewhere cause people kept giving us dirty looks so we went to let the cars cool down and to avoid officers. i talked to the kid when we parked and he thought he was going to kill me on the 40 haha he was very impressed with it. so after about 15 minutes we go back to do the 20 roll race (my race of choice) and get stuck behind some bulldozers then a van. then finally when the road was clear he noticed a white car up ahead and said i think there is a cop and surely enough it was a cop. so we never got to finish the race we just called it a draw (even though that first 20 roll race should of counted but oh well). overall good experiance and the closest races i ever had. we ended up just splitting up and saying we will race again another day to finish it but i doubt it. i think i scared him off haha (atleast until he gets his exhaust).

PS: a few hours after the race i came across my friend and his mustang GT and he gunned it next to me and i passed him haha. then i challenged him at the same dirty constuction place from a 20 roll and he said sure and i annihilated it haha. he didnt even say bye to me he just turned off hahaha. he brags about his car EVERYDAY in class and i put him to shame wooo!!!

OH and by the way supposivly the kid told ALL his friends he annihilated me today and that i backed out of racing for money. i had my friend call him and tell him i will race him for $200 from a 20 roll right now and he said he doesnt have any money and he is broke... that damn kid never even had the $150 to pay me after he lost i bet. what a little dick.

A friend of mine has a basic APR stage 2 MKV. Just chip, intake, and DP running to his stock cat-back. Another friend has an IS350 with Lexus factory I/E. Only thing that sucks about his car is that they don't offer them in stick, only automatics.

Anyway maybe you guys would like to see the results. Pretty close.
