my Bmw had the factory option of running dual sidedraft webbers, I just have the webber downdraft. You can run bike carbs but you have to drill out the main jets to flow more fuel. and you have to syncronize them all the time (thats any bike carb)

If you want to go the route of bike carbs consider doing individual throttle bodies to run with it... ITB's and a carb like that would be pretty unique. As far as anyone actually doing it, not so sure about this site. Check over at www.vwvortex.com and just run a search using the archived content

That's what I thought could I just use some needles off a Carb that would normally go in this size engine?

no they are completly different design jets, you use a ratio to find the correct drill size and drill out the factory bike carb jets.

what are these needles you speak of? you use the entire carb assymbly from the R1 but you take them apart and drill out the "needle jets" to whatever size you need. search for the equation to determine what drill size to use for your engine. I have seen it somewhere. But when in doupt go SMALL and work your way up if needed. I would consider just running them as is and use a AF gauge. then slowly work your way up in drill sizes until you get the correct AF ratio.

the needle jets, were on the same page, and you answered my question so thanks.so i don't need to drill them out it will run with the normal jets in, but in the future it would be better for performance to drill, cool thanks again

It *might* run on the stock jets, but very very poorly. Not drivable. It will run very lean because their isn't enough fuel getting thru the jets. but it is best to work your way up from stock sizing so you don't get too rich and decrease you MPGs.
